Panelled windows – particularly Crittall (steel framed) style windows – have been a trend for some time now, however, this does not mean that those with an eye for interior design are starting to find this style passe. Indeed, we’ve welcomed several new properties on to our locations library recently that have bolstered our support for generously sized panelled windows. Rustic or polished, big panels or little panels, here are a few examples of properties that shed natural light on this interior design must have.
Grove Park ref 3096 – Ealing, London
An example of a modernised period home that balances rustic edges, industrial chic with polished parquet and chandeliers. The crowning glory amongst this riot of interior must-haves is wall-to-wall metal casement windows that meet the poured concrete at the rear of the kitchen-diner. The industrial element of the property allows critall to be used inside the same room, framing the kitchen area.
Grove House, ref 15508 – Nunhead, London
A recent addition to our library, Grove House is a location that balances traditional and modern elements in its kitchen perfectly. All of the features within this room are illuminated by the natural light that streams through the panelled windows and generous skylight.
Walham, ref 15074 – Fulham, London
This brand new, large domestic space in south west London exhibits a different style in window panels that features throughout the property. The owners specifically chose this more mullioned, dense design to provide an alternative to what is perceived as a standard crittall window.
MPR, ref 2553 – Brondesbury Park, London
MPR is revered by photographers for its feminine and eclectic mixture of furniture and objects, the bright colours of which pop against breezy, light walls. The spacious kitchen-diner area is made bright and fun by the panelled windows that lead out to the property’s garden. This almost beach-house like sentiment, relaxed and cheerful, makes MPR a refreshing choice for those seeking a unique location in London.
Clayhill, ref 3954 – Kent
Panelled windows that extend across a substantial expanse of a property’s wall are great for inviting the outdoors indoors whilst remaining cosy and mud free. And where better to do this than in the Kent countryside? The modern-rustic interiors of the extension at Clayhill perfectly compliment the traditional interiors of the adjoining, original cottage (which have been jazzed up by bold splashes of colour).
Greenwood, ref 14858 – Dalston, London
Back to London and our wonderful exclusive location, ‘Greenwood’. This is a location house that offers something different in each room for shoots, all of which are in tune with a botanical, at-one-with-nature air that make the location a delightful gem amongst east London’s terraced houses. It’s an end-of-terrance property with a generous garden that can be access via the bespoke french doors of the property.
