Sir John Soane’s Museum – a JJ Media exclusive

JJ Media is proud to introduce Sir John Soane’s Museum as the latest unique and inspiring location to join its location agency. Located in the heart of London, this remarkable townhouse is the crowning glory of Lincoln’s Inn Fields and is now available exclusively via JJ as a film, photographic, and event location.

The former home of one of England’s most celebrated architects, Sir John Soane’s Museum houses a vast and eccentric collection of artefacts that have remained in situ for 180 years. The diverse and plentiful range of items ensure that every room is its own work of art, with idiosyncratic displays ensuring a sumptuous backdrop for intimate gatherings and shoots alike.

Set over the width of three Georgian townhouses, acquired by Sir John Soane (from 1792 onwards) to keep up with an ever-growing exhibition that educated his pupils and entertained his guests, the location brims with intrigue and character. Contemporaries who never had the fortune to do ‘The Grand Tour’ themselves could experience its wonders in The Dome Area (in which the incredible, original Egyptian sarcophagus of Seti I is housed) and view the famous Picture Room that cleverly displays Hogarths, Canalettos, and Turners mounted on a series of swinging walls. If Sir John’s guests were lucky enough to dine in the house’s Regency-style Library Dining Room they’d experience a twinkling candle-lit setting adorned with Pompeian & Greek decor framing the numerous bookshelves.

Fast forward to today and the location’s excellently preserved period features remain a popular destination for those seeking something unexpected in the heart of London. Each member of the team behind the location is dedicated to providing a unique experience for visitors and film and photographic crews. The museum has already hosted pop-up experiences, products launches, private dinners, stills shoots and a Hollywood feature film. Spurred on by the innovative ways in which the creative industry has so far interpreted the spaces, the museum’s staff are ready to welcome more shoots and events through the property’s authentic period doors.

The location is profoundly central, being just a hop, skip and jump from Holborn station and is served by a menagerie of bus stops. The location itslef is however tranquil; overlooking the green, picturesque square of Lincoln’s Inn Fields, the grind of Holborn’s bustling streets seeming much further away.

There’s plenty of break-out space too for events and crews, provided by the sub-street level old kitchens/servant areas. These are also well-preserved examples of areas occupied by household staff from bygone eras; a potential film location in their own right.

From heritage brands whose design and materials complement Regency interior design, to more ‘edgy’, contemporary art installations that challenge and juxtapose tradition, there is a home for creativity within the walls of this Georgian Grade I listed venue.
